Gyp and Tim

Episode 3 - A New Beginning, A New Hope

In a small village in the deep south of England, on the Hampshire-Wiltshire border, live two cats. They are brothers, Gypsy and Tim. Gypsy is also known as Stripes, and Tim as Black Cat. They are very alike in many ways, but for Gypsy the glass is always half full, for Tim it is half empty. After a hard day's patrolling the garden, and mattress testing, the boys like to reminisce before starting to organize the staff to prepare their next meal.

Gypsy and Tim in their garden

Tim Episode 3 is strange place to start our story.
Gypsy Well, we might get a series out of this. I know Star Wars started with episode
4, but we might struggle to do more than 2 prequels.
Tim OK. It all started last January, when we were in a Cat Protection pen. How
we got there we will tell you in episodes 1 or 2. We had been there for over
  eight months.
Gypsy If you had not hissed at everyone who came near we could have been out
  months earlier.
Tim I'm not like you, I don't make friends with just anybody.
Gypsy Anyway, these two humans, called Thelma & John, came to visit. They had
their kitten, Madeleine, with them. I liked them.
Tim You liked anybody you thought would get you out of there. They were much
better than some, they kept a respectful distance. Then they went away, & we
went back to the routine of sitting looking out, waiting for the next feed.
Gypsy About a week later, a travelling cage was put in the pen. I got straight in to it.
Tim I stayed put. Then you were in the car and off it went. An hour or so later the
empty cage came back, after a token four hours' wait I got in, and I was
  away.
Gypsy I had a nice car ride, then was taken out of the car and into a house. We went
upstairs and into a small bed-room. It was a bit girlie. They let me out of the
cage. We found out later that this had been Madeleine's bedroom until a few
months earlier, when she had moved to a larger room. Thelma & John had
not got round to redecorating it.
Tim They still have not.
Gypsy Meow. It was furnished with a bunk bed. I took the top deck. There was a
window with a sill to lay on & look out, and two FULL food bowls.
Tim Shame was they were full of the same old pen food.
Gypsy They have learnt now, we get different food. In the room there was also a
water bowl, two litter trays, a scratching post, a few toys, and most important
a radiator with a cat hammock.
Tim You were well settled in by the time I arrived.
Gypsy Your entrance was a non-event. All any one saw was your tail disappearing
behind the bed. The staff did not see much of you for about 10 days.
Tim John saw my eyes, after about four days.
Gypsy Only because he passed you cat treats down behind the bed.
Tim I came out for food and litter trays right from the start, when they were not
around. After a while I came up onto the bed, when John came in with the cat
  treats.
Gypsy The weight you put on.
Tim But I've lost it now. Anyway you are a good one to talk, I heard them call you
  Fatty Lumpkin.
Gypsy That was because we did not get any exercise in the pen.
Tim Then one morning, the bedroom door was left open. I'm not sure if it was
  deliberate or accidental.
Gypsy It was deliberate, because they were fed up with you scratching at the door all
night. They thought it was me. Anyway I was first out of the room. There was
a corridor and lots of rooms, and a flight of stairs leading down to another set
of rooms. I was first downstairs as well.
Tim Yeah, Yeah, you were also first in the garage, first in the garden, first to catch
a rabbit. I prefer caution, the pioneers got shot is a human expression.
Gypsy I soon found a more comfortable spot, in another bed-room. I planned to .
spend the nights there, but kept being taken back to our old room each night.
So I then started to go down the stairs in the morning.
Tim By then I was looking out of the open door.
Gypsy Downstairs was some scary stuff. I could see trees, gardens and fields then
through the windows. I found a nice comfortable settee to settle down on,
Madeleine came into the room. I was just going to sleep, when this box in the
corner, which had been doing nothing, suddenly started to make loud noises,
and there were flashing lights, I fled.
Tim Is this where we finish episode 3?
Gypsy Yes, with a cliff-hanger ending. Me running from the box, and you about to
step through the door into the outside world.
Tim Get your Tim & Gypsy merchandise from all good retailers.
Gypsy The billing is Gypsy & Tim. Tell them about the merchandise.
Tim I thought we might do autographed pictures, small cute cuddly Timmy dolls,
eventually our own range of cat care products, maybe gourmet foodstuff.
Then we move into banking, record stores, airlines, etc.
Gypsy There will also be big loveable Gypsy dolls. Coming in future episodes, Tim
goes downstairs, Gypsy in the garage, the boys go into the garden. Tim &
Gypsy meet Taggy Cat from down the road. The boys go hunting. The boys
help rewire the rotary clothes' dryer.
Tim See Gypsy fall in the pond.
Gypsy Watch it.
Tim I did, it was funny. Gyps, why do the staff sometimes refer to us as G and T?
Gypsy Say goodnight Timmy.
Tim Keep watching Catsup.

Tim resting after a hard day's writing.

Episode 4 - The Not So Great Escape

Tim Well here we are again, ready to tell an eager public the next part of our life
story.
Gypsy I told you we might get a series, think we might have to go back to the
  prequels next.
Tim What about you on the roof, they'll want to know about that.
Gypsy We are not talking about that.
Tim Oh yes we are, and we are going to do you in the pond as well.
Gypsy If you remember at the end of the last episode I was downstairs, and you
were about to come out of our room for the first time. I found a nice
comfortable settee to settle down on, then the humans' kitten, Madeleine,
came into the room. I was just going to sleep, when this box in the corner,
which had been doing nothing, suddenly started to make loud noises, and
there were flashing lights, I fled.
Tim At the same time I was looking out of our room. I saw several other rooms
and the stairs. I took a step outside. At that point you came charging up the
stairs yelling "Head for the hills", and disappeared into another room. Nearly
took my whiskers off.
Gypsy I remember your reaction when you first saw the TV, as they call that box.
Anyway John came and found me, and took me back downstairs. The box
  was quiet by then.
Tim Then he came up and found me. I was in my personal bunker, behind the bed.
It took several cat treats to get me out of the bunker, let alone the room.
Gypsy They switched the TV on several times, before I would stay in the room with
it on, but the settee was very comfortable, so eventually I stayed. There is
some quite good stuff to watch on TV as well.
Tim You were well established downstairs before I came down, however I did set
up camp in another bed-room. The Guest Bedroom they call it, Timmy's
Room I call it.
Gypsy I'd also set up my HQ in their bedroom, trouble is they still won't let me spend
all night in there defending them.
Tim After a couple of weeks, you don't want to rush things, I went down the
stairs. That's when I meet the TV. It took quite a lot of cat treats to get me
out of the bunker. Funny, I have trouble sleeping in the evening now if the TV
  isn't switched on.
Gypsy By now I was sitting by the patio doors, asking to go out into the garden.
Staff did not seem to understand, but they did open another door, and there
was a big dark room, with a car sleeping inside.
Tim Yes, the garage. Now, I like going in there on wet days, and putting muddy
paw-prints all over the car, especially the windscreen.
Gypsy You could smell the fresh air at one end of the garage, and see daylight, as
  well.
Tim There was also the faintest whiff of mice. I got in the garage only a few days
  after you.
Gypsy By then food, water, and litter trays had appeared downstairs as well as in
our room. Suddenly one night, instead of being taken up to our old room, we
  were shut in downstairs

Staff Notice. When the boys first came to stay they were confined to one
bedroom, and for a few weeks after they started exploring the house, they still
slept in that room. Once they were both happy in the house we moved their
food and water downstairs into the utility room. They had the run of
downstairs, so we "confined" the boys to the lounge, dining room, kitchen and
utility. We still put some dried food and water in their old room, and they still
go in for a snack at times.

Tim It was a lot better downstairs, I had my own bed on the settee or one of the
  arm-chairs in the lounge.
Gypsy I agree, I sleep on a chair in the dining room, and I don't have to listen to you
snoring, and scratching at the door, all night.
Tim Strange, Thelma & John said exactly the same thing.
Gypsy The staff started talking about letting me out into the garden. Madeleine was
the one who suggested it, nice kitten.
Tim Are you going to tell them about the harness?
Gypsy I thought it was a rather fetching fashion accessory.
Tim Big queen, it was purple and a loop went over your head, with another bit that
went round your front legs, and shoulders.
Gypsy I still think it suited me, anyway I wore it around the house for a couple of
days, then one Sunday morning it all happened. John was talking on the
telephone, and you were all round him as usual, when Madeleine and Thelma
put a lead onto the harness, and opened the door to the outside.
Tim I was quite surprised to see you walk past the patio window on a lead just
  like a dog.
Gypsy We went slowly round the garden, me leading, then at the back of the garden,
by the shed I walked out of the harness and wandered off. You should have
seen the staff's faces. After a few minutes I wandered back into the kitchen.
Tim Next day they tried to put the harness on me. NO WAY. It took lots and lots
of cat treats to get me out of the bunker. We've not seen the harness since.
Gypsy By now I was going outside regularly.
Tim By now I was scratching at the window. Two days later John opened the
patio door and he and I went into the garden. No need for silly harnesses, I
kept with him, had a stroll round the garden, and came in when I was ready.
Gypsy By now I had found the way down the side of the house to the front garden.
Tim I got there a few days after you.
Gypsy You got a tick on your cheek as well.
Tim Staff got rid of it. No cliff-hanger ending this episode?
Gypsy After a couple of days the staff stopped accompanying us on every trip into
the garden, and we started to explore the area.
Tim One morning I came round from the front garden to see you walking towards
a large ginger cat. I hate other cats, I barely put up with you.
Gypsy I know, you hissed and the ginger cat bristled out his fur and crouched down
  as I approached.
Tim Now we have to decide what episode to do next, "Episode 1 Gyps And
Timmy-Cat - The Early Years".
Gypsy Or "Episode 5 - Carousel - The Boys Help Repair The Clothes Line".
Tim Or alternative title "Tadpoles - Gypsy In The Pond".
Gypsy Say goodnight Timmy.
Tim

Timmy Dolls coming soon, order now for Christmas.
